DESCRIPTION:History speaks to us through this beautiful place we call Albemarle County and invites us to listen and dream back to American life in the early 1700’s… For the 15th time\, we will ask that you join Grace Church’s Farm Tour Committee and our generous Keswick neighbors as we welcome our many guests to a special day in the country and a peek of what lies “beyond the gates”\, those rock walls and those tree lined paths leading to some of Virginia’s most respected historical farms. \nFarm gates will open\, the Church grounds will transform to an earlier era Country Fair featuring local artisans\, food vendors\, Grace Grill\, foot tapping music\, pony rides\, an English Country Fair children’s area\, and 4-H livestock presentations and show. Again\, this year a wonderful assortment of demonstrations awaits visitors at the featured farms. There will be 4-H judging\, the foxhounds of the Keswick Hunt Club\,  children’s activities\, food trucks\, and an antique car show. \n  \nFind fresh inspiration with CharlottesvilleFamily! SUMMARY:Blessing of the Hounds
DESCRIPTION:The 97th Blessing of the Hounds Service\nThanksgiving Morning\, November 27\, 2025 at 10 am\nFirst held on November 28\, 1929\, Grace Episcopal Church was one of the first churches in the country to have a “Blessing of the Hounds” service. This is a tradition that has continued each Thanksgiving Day since. \nBy the late 1700’s in England\, foxhunting had taken on forms that remain today. It has been a popular sport in Virginia since colonial times. It continues customs and traditions that are mostly English in origin. The blessing of hunting hounds is an ancient practice. Today it features traditions and rituals developed over the centuries. After the foxhunters\, their horses and hounds\, and even the foxes have been blessed\, the hunt begins. All who attend “The Blessing of the Hounds” are welcome to follow across the road. You can catch a glimpse of this fascinating tradition. \nWe will serve cider and hot chocolate in the Parish Hall before and after the service.  It is an exciting event. It will be a great way to begin your Thanksgiving celebration! \nIt is customary each year at the Blessing of the Hounds for us to collect an offering to benefit local charities. This year this collection will be divided between Keswick Sensory Farm and Service Dogs of Virginia. \n  \nGet your family outside to explore the beautiful natural world around Charlottesville!
