Chess Mates

Does your child like to play chess? Are they interested in learning to play this timeless game? Exercise their mind muscles at Chess Mates! The Virginia Discovery Museum’s multi-week chess classes focus on building an understanding of chess and having fun while developing creativity, executive function, and math skills. Chess Mates is offered once a season and is led by guest coach Barry Keith, a French and Spanish teacher at Monticello High School who is an avid chess player and tutor and the secretary of the Chess on Stamp Study Unit.
