Why the Moms Lit Society?

Moms, you give so much every day: to your children, your family, your work, and your community. That’s why we created something just for you.

CharlottesvilleFamily Magazine is thrilled to bring you the Moms Lit Society: Books After Bedtime. This quarterly book club is designed to help you relax, recharge, and connect with other thoughtful women in our community. Whether you’re a bookworm, audiobook lover, or just in it for the laughs, this is your space to slow down and savor a great story.

And the best part? Every title we read in our Charlottesville book club is written by a Virginia woman author, shining a spotlight on incredible local talent.

You don’t have to attend every meeting or RSVP in advance. In fact, you don’t even have to have read the book! (Just be prepared for some spoilers if you haven’t.)

All you have to do is show up and be ready to have a great time with other Charlottesville parents.

New to the Charlottesville Area?

We know moving to a new town is tough. Our Charlottesville Relocation Guide will answer your practical questions on topics like schools, pediatricians, and setting up utilities. But what about the trickier parts of settling into a home, like making friends?

A book club is one of the best ways to meet new people in Charlottesville. Especially a book club with a minimal time commitment, a diverse selection of books, and someone else to do the planning.

If you’re looking for a new Charlottesville book club, stop by the The Moms Lit Society to grab a drink and meet other book lovers!

Why This Charlottesville Book Club Is Different

  • Curated for connection: Join a community that understand the juggle of your everyday life, full of other parents seeking joy, inspiration, and grown-up conversation.

  • Hosted with heart: Created in partnership with CharlottesvilleFamily Magazine, Bluebird & Co., Dairy Market and Starr Hill Brewery to offer local parents a fun, friendly, down-to-earth experience.

Join us on August 25, 2026 for a book club featuring Elizabeth Becker’s The Moonlight Healers.

Elizabeth Becker’s debut novel is a multi-generational saga of women bound by a secret gift of healing, set across multiple timelines in World War II France and present-day Appalachia. It explores family legacy, sacrifice, and the fragile balance between life, death, and love.

Discuss the book over a glass of wine or beer at Starr Hill Dairy Market at 6:30pm on August 25, 2026!
