Preschool Prep

May 5 @ 9:30 am - 11:30 am

Ready for your little one’s big step into preschool? Prepare them with the Virginia Discovery Museum’s six-week preschool readiness program for children ages 2 to 4 and an adult caregiver. Children’s sessions will be led by Courtney Edmund, former teacher and the Museum’s Education Manager, and Emily Pearcy, the Museum’s Programs & Administrative Coordinator. Preschool Prep combines fun and learning to explore the essential skills toddlers will need for preschool success. We’ll work on easing into gentle separation; exercising fine motor skills; and developing social-emotional skills for self-regulation and communication, relationship-building and cooperation, and responsible decision-making. Parents will learn from professionals in different specialties, gaining best practices, helpful tips, and practical ideas to support and prepare their children for their next big steps.

Featured Speakers: Carolyn Gosse, SLP, Terri and Mary Jo (MJ) with VPM, Shannon Banks with ReadyKids, and Jen with CharlottesvilleFamily Magazine.
