StoryFest – Childhood is Magic: Stories of Land & People

Two books illustrate children’s connections with the land and their heritage.

In You Are the Land by Steph Littlebird, a child’s bond with the natural world shows her that she is part of something bigger and greater: a family, a community, and earth itself.

For a young girl in Magick Hoodoo Child by Amber McBride, summer means rootwork with her grandmother: this rootwork, an African spiritual practice, ties her to her heritage and to the living and healing world.
