Getting everything ready for the new school year? To help families check off everything on their to-do list, the Charlottesvile/Albemarle Health Department is offering several opportunities for local families to get back-to-school vaccines if you don’t have a regular pediatrician or can’t get an appointment in time.
Where to Get Required School Vaccines in Charlottesville & Albemarle County
Local families who need back-to-school vaccines for children in Charlottesville and Albemarle can choose between three types of vaccine clinics. Pick the option that’s easiest on your schedule and get one step closer to having everything ready for the start of the new school year!
Vaccine Appointments at the Charlottesville/Albemarle Health Department
You can get school vaccines at the Health Department throughout the summer, located at 1138 Rose Hill Drive in Charlottesville. This includes weekly vaccine clinics on Wednesdays and Thursdays. Appointments are required. There will also be back-to-school vaccine clinics on:
- Wednesday, July 29, 2026 from 8:30 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.
- Wednesday, August 5, 2026 from 8:30 – 11:30 a.m.
These clinics also require appointments. Call 434-972-6269 to schedule one for your child.
Vaccines at the Back to School Bash
The Back to School Bash on Sunday, August 9th is a community event to get students excited and ready for the new schools year. In addition to music, food, and games, students can also receive backpacks full of school supplies and get required school vaccines.

The Back to School Bash will be help on Sunday, August 9, 2026, at Fashion Square Mall in the former JCPenney location. School vaccines will be available from 12:00 – 4:00 p.m. on a first come, first served basis.
Vaccine Clinic for Rising 7th & Rising 12th Graders
Students going into 7th and 12th grade need additional vaccines. For Fall 2026, the Health Department is offering walk-in vaccines clinics specifically for students in these grades.
Health Department walk-in vaccine clinics are at 1138 Rose Hill Drive in Charlottesville on:
- Monday, July 27, 2026 from 1:00 – 3:30 p.m.
- Monday, August 3, 2026 from 4:00 – 6:00 p.m.
- Friday, August 7, 2026 from 1:00 – 3:30 p.m.
Albemarle County Public Schools walk-in vaccine clinics are on Tuesday, August 11, 2026 at:
- Monticello High School (1400 Independence Way, Charlottesville) from 9:00 – 11:30 a.m.
- Journey Middle School (210 Lambs Lane, Charlottesville) from 1:30 – 4:00 p.m.
Preparing for Your Back-to-School Vaccine Appointment
For your appointment, you will need to bring:
- Your child’s insurance or Medicaid card, if you have either
- Your child’s vaccination record, if available
Costs for vaccine clinics vary based on insurance coverage and household income. Uninsured children are welcome at both walk-in clinics and scheduled appointments.
