At CharlottesvilleFamily Life & Home Magazine, we believe in the power of community and the importance of supporting those who serve our community’s children. That’s why we’re excited to share our biennial CharlottesvilleFamily ‘Doing Good’ Marketing Grant, dedicated to amplifying the voices of local nonprofits that are making a positive impact in the lives of children in Charlottesville-Albemarle and the surrounding communities.

What We’re Looking For

We invite non-profit organizations that provide direct services to children and families to apply for the CharlottesvilleFamily ‘Doing Good’ Marketing Grant. Whether you offer educational programs, mental health services, food assistance, or enrichment activities, we want to hear from you! Our goal is for the grant to reach smaller, community-oriented nonprofits that may benefit most from additional marketing support.

Details of the CharlottesvilleFamily ‘Doing Good’ Marketing Grant

Grant Amount

Marketing package to include marketing consultations and digital, print and social promotion throughout 2025 valued at over $10,000.

Application Deadline

Applications for the 2025 CharlottesvilleFamily ‘Doing Good’ Marketing Grant should be submitted via email by November 10, 2024. The next round of applications will be accepted in 2026.

‘Doing Good’ Marketing Grant Eligibility Guidelines

Applicants must have an annual operating budget of $500,000 or less and employ no more than 10 full-time equivalent (FTE) staff.

2. Nonprofit Status

Applicants must be a 501(c)(3) nonprofit or equivalent in good standing.

3. Years of Operation

Eligible organizations must have been in operation for at least 1 year but not more than 10 years as of the application date.

4. Prior Grant Funding

Organizations that have received any single grant of $100,000 or more within the last 2 years are not eligible.

5. Geographic Focus

Nonprofits must be based in and primarily serve communities within Charlottesville-Albemarle.

How to Apply for the 2025 CharlottesvilleFamily ‘Doing Good’ Marketing Grant

To apply, contact us for the application form. This will be an opportunity to share your non-profit story, outline your needs, and show us how your organization is making a difference.

Evaluation Criteria

The finalists for the CharlottesvilleFamily ‘Doing Good’ Marketing Grant will be selected based on:

  • Organizational impact
  • Marketing need and vision
  • Community reach and engagement
  • Potential for growth in organization’s capacity to serve

Schedule for the ‘Doing Good’ Grant Process

  1. Call for nominations and applications from community through November 10.
  2.  All finalist nominees will be highlighted in a CharlottesvilleFamily Magazine story online that will be heavily promoted.
  3. The community and CharlottesvilleFamily readers will be invited to vote on finalists November 18-25. During this time, finalists should promote the voting process and encourage the community to support them by voting. Social media, sharing on your website and email newsletters are especially effective.
  4. Winner of the 2025 CharlottesvilleFamily “Doing Good” Grant will be announced December 2, Giving Tuesday.
