On Our Minds

From the editors:

Here’s something we’ve been sitting with lately: summer can feel stressful for parents, especially for those of us with kids who really thrive on routine and structure. The unscheduled days, the “I’m bored” moments, the constant negotiations, etc.

But we keep coming back to this: in the grand scheme of things, we only get a handful of summers with our kids while they’re truly young, and some of the sweetest memories tend to come from the simplest moments — not the packed itineraries.

So this year, we’re giving ourselves permission to relax the routine, stress less about structure, and just be with our families. Sometimes doing less really is the most meaningful thing we can do.
