Tips for Making Your Halloween Extra Special

The bewitching season is here! What could be more fun for our kids than dressing up like goblins, ghosts and witches to celebrate the chasing away of all those monsters under our beds. We’ve put together a fun witchy treat for the lunchbox, your Halloween party or a just-for-fun snack and some great tips for carving that special pumpkin. Enjoy!

Surprise your child in his lunchbox this Halloween with a healthy dose of bewitched fruit!

Recipe Ingredients

  • pear
  • gingersnap or chocolate snap cookie
  • raisins
  • frosting
  • carrot shreds
  • pointy ice cream cone

Steps to Make Your Halloween Treat

Begin with a pear cut in half. Don’t worry about the pear’s condition. The uglier, the better!

Slice a small wedge out of the middle and cut a larger wedge off the top edge for the nose. (Flattening the top of her head will make her hat look better later.) Then cut small pits in her face for her eyes, a wart on her chin and a slit for her mouth.

You can use chocolate chips and/or raisins for her eyes and wart, and a bit of red apple for her mouth. You’ve got a witchy Halloween treat!

Next, trim a quarter off a large, dark brown cookie (like a chocolate or ginger snap) to use as her witchy hat rim and put a dollop of brown, orange or green frosting on top of it to act as glue for the Oreo® ice cream cone top.

Lastly, add some long strands of grated carrot for hair, and you’re ready to pack her up for a frightful lunchtime giggle.
